Shifters over sixteenth notes


Sixteenth notes land on a full beat after every 4 notes and on a one every 16 notes.

Shifter over 3 sixteenth notes:

On a full counting time, the shifter over 3 sixteenth notes lands again after LCM(3, 4) = 12 notes, i.e. the first time on the four in the same measure. The shifter lands on a one again after LCM(3, 16) = 48 notes, i.e. for the first time on the one in the 4th bar.

Shifter over 5 sixteenth notes:

On a full count, the shifter over 5 sixteenth notes lands again after LCM(5, 4) = 20 notes, i.e. the first time on the two in the second bar. The shifter lands on a one again after LCM(5, 16) = 80 notes, i.e. for the first time on the one in the 6th bar.

Shifter over 6 sixteenth notes:

On a full count, the shifter over 6 sixteenth notes lands again after LCM(6, 4) = 12 notes, i.e. for the first time on the four in the same measure. The shifter lands on a one again after LCM(6, 16) = 48 notes, i.e. for the first time on the one in the 4th bar.

Shifter over 7 sixteenth notes:

On a full count, the shifter over 7 sixteenth notes lands again after LCM(7, 4) = 28 notes, .e. for the first time on the three in the second bar. The shifter lands on a one again after LCM(7, 16) = 112 notes, i.e. for the first time on the one in the 8th measure.
